JOB SUMMARY:

The Administrative Medical Assistant will be responsible for answering incoming calls scheduling appointments taking complete and accurate messages registering and updating patient information canceling and rescheduling appointments as well as checking patient insurance eligibility and confirming upcoming appointments. Perform a wide variety of administrative and general office duties to support medical staff members. Assist in obtaining and recording patient data in charts and reports. Respect the confidentiality of agency and clients.

WORK SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

This is a full-time position 37.5 hours a week.

Must be able to work evenings and rotating Saturdays as scheduled/needed.

Requirements

REQUIRED QUAIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Medical Assistant Certification
  • Microsoft word excel electronic medical record medical terminology typing
  • Organizational and research skills
  • Detail-focused
  • Organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills for all levels of client provider and colleague interaction
  • Must be able to clearly present information to patients and employees be dependable and show initiative
  • Professional and respectful telephone manner
  • Current CPR (BLS) certifications
  • Complete all required background checks
  • Provide/maintain all required immunizations and/or vaccinations
  • Bilingual in Spanish; preferred

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Obtain and record patient data in charts and reports
  • Schedule appointments
  • Answer telephone in a courteous professional manner.
  • Computer literate
  • Paperwork faxing electronic messaging as needed
  • Register and update patient information
  • Adhere to agency policies and professional code of ethics
  • Clean and stock working area/lab
  • Alert appropriate person of supplies needed
  • Answer phones in courteous manner
  • Take accurate legible phone messages and medication requests
  • Secure department and end of shift if last to leave unplug equipment lock medication cabinets and shut off lights.
  • Receive and process patients take vitals (BP Wt. Ht. Pulse and Temp.)
  • Obtain and record patient data in EHR (Vitals Social Hxs PHQs Lab results)
  • Perform routine diagnostic test per FHS protocol.
  • Urinalysis hct Hb A1c blood glucose lead tests and hCG (pregnancy test)
  • Operate and maintain clinical equipment
  • Scrub and sterilize instruments properly in autoclave
  • Prepare patients for examinations and tests
  • Properly dispose of medical waste and sharps
  • Other duties as needed.
