Sister Lakes Community Church is looking for an Associate Pastor to join our current church
staff. We are a non-denominational, free grace church, located on 40 acres, about 30 minutes
north of South Bend, Indiana, 35 minutes west of Kalamazoo, Michigan, and 30 minutes from
Lake Michigan. SLCC has an average attendance of approximately 160. We have local and
regional attendees as well as seasonal folks that are here to enjoy our beautiful lakes. Our
mission is to reach people and to bring them to a vital relationship with Jesus Christ.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Associate Pastor of Family Ministries
The associate pastor will provide leadership and oversight of various ministries at SLCC. This is
a full-time, salaried position. Compensation is based on experience and education.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:
While the following responsibilities are primarily what we are looking for in a candidate, we as
a church are also focused on finding a person of character whose qualifications/strengths may
be outside of the parameters of this job description.
● Focus on families and youth
● Work alongside lead pastor
Specific Responsibilities:
1. Family and youth ministry
● Teach/Lead young married/family group/class
● Maintenance and management of Youth, Kid’s Town and Nursery (0-4)
● Provide relationship building, coaching, mentoring and encouragement to younger
families and youth in the church
2. Assist Lead Pastor
● Pulpit fill as needed (approximately 6-10 times a year)
● Visit and counsel with congregation via phone or in person
● Minister to new disciples
● Establish and keep regular office hours
● Shared responsibility of outreach/community events
QUALIFICATIONS:
● Ability to teach, good communication and organizational skills, leadership abilities, and
compassion for the lost and hurting
● Vocational ministry experience preferred
● Bachelor’s degree in biblical or ministerial studies preferred
