As the state's federally mandated Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU), the Division of Medi-Cal Fraud and Elder Abuse (DMFEA) works aggressively to investigate and prosecute fraudulent activities and the illegal diversion of health care resources from California's most vulnerable citizens.

Under the supervision of the Crime Analyst Supervisor, the Crime Analyst II (CA II) performs more difficult and complex analytical duties associated with identifying, analyzing, and disseminating Medi-Cal fraud and elder abuse information, data, and documentary evidence in support of the investigative and prosecutorial duties of the Special Agents, Deputy Attorneys General, and Investigative Auditors within DMFEA. The CA II is responsible for property and evidence management, including the maintenance of chain of custody, proper receipt, identification, and preservation of evidence submissions, appropriate release/transfer of evidence, tracking and records management, and ensuring evidence audits and destructions are completed timely. The CA II will also order equipment for sworn and investigative staff. The CA II is responsible for assisting in the maintenance of the office's vehicle fleet by coordinating maintenance for sworn and office staff, tracking mileage logs, spreadsheets, transfers, and surveys. The CA II should exhibit a high degree of initiative, independence, and willingness to train and mentor Crime Analyst I’s.

In your response, please describe the types of evidence you handled, such as physical and/or digital evidence, and how your experience has prepared you to lead and train other CAI’s in completing evidence custodial duties.  
2. As a Crime Analyst II, you will lead and train other Crime Analyst I’s. Describe your experience and any training you have in running law enforcement databases to locate individuals, entities, companies, etc. Describe which databases you used, how you track your work, and how you present or submit your work to the case investigators. In your response describe how this experience has prepared you to lead and train other CAI’s to use these databases to support the case investigations.
