Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Field Service Technician to join our team. This role involves performing service calls on-site for industrial equipment for both mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair, including installation of upgrade components to legacy equipment. The technician will travel locally for day service calls, as well as occasionally travel overnight for remote customer sites. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with mechanical and electrical systems, a strong understanding of blueprints and electrical schematics, and the ability to interact professionally with customers, representing the company with integrity and expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • On-Site Service Calls:

Travel to customer sites to perform repairs, installs, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of industrial equipment and machinery. Address both mechanical and electrical issues efficiently and accurately.

  • Customer Interaction:

Interface directly with customers, ensuring a positive service experience. Communicate effectively to explain technical issues and solutions in a clear and professional manner, fostering strong customer relationships.

  • Technical Troubleshooting:

Perform in-depth troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and control systems, diagnosing problems and implementing repairs or adjustments as needed.

  • Blueprint and Schematic Interpretation:

Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and electrical schematics to assist with diagnostics and repairs, ensuring all work is performed according to specifications and safety standards.

  • Documentation and Reporting:

Complete detailed service reports after each visit, including descriptions of issues, repairs performed, parts used, and any follow-up recommendations. Maintain accurate records of all service work conducted.

  • Travel and Logistics:

Manage your travel schedule to ensure timely arrival at customer locations. Handle any necessary travel logistics, including overnight stays and travel arrangements when required.

  • Professionalism:

Represent the company in a professional manner at all times, maintaining a positive and customer-oriented attitude. Provide technical support to customers while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or vocational training in industrial equipment, mechanical or electrical engineering, or a related field is highly preferred.
  • Proven hands-on experience in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining industrial equipment, including both mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Strong understanding of blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently while meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical customers.
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and transport tools and equipment as needed (up to 25 lbs).
  • Ability to travel locally and occasionally overnight to remote customer locations.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing role is highly desirable.

Working Conditions:

  • 80% local travel to customer sites, with 20% of travel requiring overnight stays.
  • Must be comfortable working in a variety of industrial environments.
  • Occasional overtime and weekend work may be required based on service demands.
