About us: The Department of Structural Biology within Protein Sciences is a world-leading research and drug discovery organization focusing on cutting-edge biomedical questions. We pursue challenging and important problems that aim to uncover fundamental biological mechanisms that would advance our understanding of human physiology in health and disease. We are fully equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including cryo-electron microscopy (cryoEM) suite with two Titan Krios and two Glacios electron microscopes, among other tools essential for successful structural biology workflows.

The opportunity: We are seeking a motivated scientist interested in using structural biology to understand the molecular mechanisms of large macromolecular complexes involved in DNA repair processes. The role involves protein purification, reconstitution, and structure determination of DNA-protein complexes using cryoEM. Additionally, you will help to develop functional biochemical assays to assess and determine the mechanism of action of various multi-subunit protein complexes. You will be highly encouraged to think deeply about the biological problem, make significant intellectual contributions to the chosen research project, and work closely with other team members. Qualifications.

• BS/MS degree with 3-5 years of experience or a PhD with 0-2 years of experience in Biochemistry, Chemical Biology, Structural Biology, or a related discipline.
• Hands-on experience designing and optimizing the purification of challenging protein targets (including protein complexes) for structural and/or functional studies.
• Development of functional biochemical and biophysical assays.
• Experience in cryoEM sample and grid preparation (beneficial qualification).
• Experience with mammalian cell culture functional assays (beneficial qualification).

Pay Rate Range: 25-32/hr depending on experience
