Position is located in the Riverside Annex.

Under close supervision of the Business Taxes Administrator I, the Tax Technician I is responsible for the less difficult and complex technical duties and performs a variety of compliance related tasks. This includes, but is not limited to, applying laws, rules and policies relating to the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration programs; performing account maintenance duties, including the filing and pulling of taxpayer records and account files; accessing taxpayer information via a video terminal and/or modifying account information as necessary; and processing of the incoming and outgoing mail which may include payments and handling of sensitive and confidential material. Travel may be required up to 5% of the time.

Under Government Code 14200, this position may be eligible for part-time telework for eligible candidates residing in California.

Working Conditions

• Standard office environment.
• Requires being in a stationary position, consistent with office work, for extended periods of time.

• Position requires employee to be fingerprinted and successfully pass a background investigation.
• Travel may be required up to 5% of the time.
• Travel to meet training requirements, may include overnight for more than one day.
• Travel to complete mail processing duties.
• Must be flexible and willing to adjust to changing work schedules, if required, for operational needs.
