Position Title: Director of Philanthropy

Reports To: Chief Executive Officer

Salary Range- $75,000-$85,000

Job Class: Director

Overtime: Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY:

Coal Creek Meals on Wheels is seeking a relationship-centered, results-driven Director of Philanthropy to lead our contributed revenue strategy and grow a culture of joyful, donor-centered philanthropy. This leader will drive major gifts and overall revenue leadership , plan and execute our annual fundraising event , and lead marketing and appeals that deepen community engagement. The Director will manage a portfolio of mid-level donors while stewarding multiple gifts of $5,000+ .

You’ll serve as a vital member of the Leadership Team and a trusted advisor to the Chief Executive Officer , partnering closely on organization-wide strategy and growth.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and oversee the fundraising strategy to meet and exceed annual revenue goals, with a focus on individual giving, corporate partnerships, and grant funding.
  • Develop and implement moves management plans to effectively cultivate, solicit, and steward donors, ensuring a strong pipeline of major gifts and planned giving prospects.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Executive Officer and leadership team to align fundraising strategies with organizational goals and initiatives.
  • Prepare regular reports on revenue performance and donor activity, presenting progress to the Board and leadership team.
  • Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive fundraising calendar, including campaigns, events, and donor communications.
  • Initiate and maintain regular communication with key stakeholders, including one-on-one meetings, site visits, impact reports, and personalized outreach, to deepen relationships and keep them informed of their contributions' impact
  • Collaborate with program staff and leadership to create compelling narratives and proposals that resonate with donors and effectively communicate the organization’s successes, challenges, and needs.
  • Maintain and update donor portfolios and relationship management systems, ensuring a clear record of engagement activities, donor preferences, and future opportunities for deepening the partnership.
  • Stay informed about trends in philanthropy, and adjust strategies to enhance revenue growth and donor engagement.
  • Represent Coal Creek Meals on Wheels at external events and engagements, fostering community relationships and visibility for the organization.
  • Implement data-driven approaches to identify donor trends, evaluate fundraising success, and refine donor segmentation and stewardship strategies for maximum impact.
  • Leverage relationships to explore new funding opportunities, including introducing existing supporters to potential new partners and funding sources within their networks.
  • Monitor and evaluate the success of corporate engagement efforts, providing feedback and support to the Foundation & Corporate Relations Manager to refine approaches and meet revenue and partnership goals.
  • Guide the Foundation & Corporate Relations Manager in developing strategies for increasing employee engagement and volunteerism within corporate partners, including coordinating volunteer days, team-building activities, and workplace giving campaigns.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

  • With the support of the CEO, achieve or exceed contributed revenue goal of $900,000.
  • Steward and close multiple gifts of 5,000+
  • Manage a portfolio of donors and move them along the donor moves management plan
  • Increase annual giving by 10%
  • Plan and execute a successful annual event that meets or exceeds budget goals

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience (e.g. nonprofit leadership, development, grant-writing, marketing/communications)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Creativity and ability to innovate
  • Demonstrated project management experience
  • Competent self-starter who will take initiative and work independently
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to organize and meet deadlines for a wide variety of job assignments with minimal supervision
  • Strong computer skills and aptitude for learning new technology
  • Positive attitude, good people skills, and demonstrated teamwork
  • Sense of humor and grace under pressure
  • Must be able to comply with background check

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4–6 years of professional fundraising experience with demonstrated success soliciting high-dollar gifts and managing donor portfolios.
  • Track record leading or co-leading major gifts strategy and annual giving/appeals ; event leadership experience required.
  • Strong communicator and storyteller—skilled at making the case for support in writing and in person.
  • Comfortable with CRMs and revenue forecasting; organized, detail-oriented, and data-informed.
  • Collaborative teammate who is relationship-driven, strategic, entrepreneurial, and coachable; thrives in a small, nimble nonprofit.
